2020, what a year. Little did we know that it was going to be a rollercoaster of a ride. Everyone had high hopes for 2020, because as the name suggests, it was SUPPOSED to be a good year (emphasis on the ‘supposed to be’). It started like a normal year, everyone went ahead with their own daily lives not knowing that these were going to be the last ‘normal’ days.

At the beginning of 2020, we all heard this new term ‘corona virus’ but we didn’t pay much attention to it, which brought us into this big mess.

It was around mid March where we heard another new term, ‘lockdown’, we students were really happy because it meant no school. That again was the last ‘normal time’ for us. A lot happened during the lockdown, everyone was stuck at home and forced to spend ‘quality time’ with their family, good or bad, well you decide. The streets were empty and the shops were closed. This was really weird because the roads were always filled with cars and traffic and this sudden emptiness made it feel like we were in a zombie apocalypse without the zombies. Everyone adapted to the online life quickly, and everyone was in their own little bubble. Laptops and phones became necessities for students so that online classes could be conducted.

Wearing a mask while leaving the house became as important as taking your keys and phone, all part of the new normal. When things started opening up, every shop had a bottle of sanitizer and a device to check every customer’s temperature. Circles and squares were drawn on the ground, not for hopscotch but for social distancing.

Despite all this, the year went by pretty fast like a blur and the New Year approached. Everyone hoped that 2021 would be better but it seemed like a replay of the previous year.

It was already April and the students of tenth grade were preparing for the board exam. It seemed like any normal day until we got the news that CBSE exams were cancelled. The students of ICSE were waiting for further news to come about their exam and like a dream come true, the exams were cancelled.

In the blink of an eye it was already June and half of 2021 was over. Hopefully things will go back to normal and 2021 the sequel, will have a better ending than 2020.
