Our Principals

For all that has been THANKS. The act of giving thanks requires us to acknowledge our blessings, and in so doing, calls us to recognize our duties to create a peaceful, well-governed world. Gratefulness is a sure way to happiness. It is in giving thanks that we recognize our humble place in the order of things: that we are the receivers of remarkable blessings and gifts; and that we are grateful to our benevolent maker. And it is in giving thanks that we see clearly the incredible power of our roles as people who have received so much.

Our Faculty

Notre Dame Academy as an institution of academic excellence strives to impart the values of Truth and Universal Love. Education is a dedicated service. Hence, focus, commitment, and involvement are extremely important. Teachers of Notre Dame Academy form the core of the NDA family.

We have an experienced team of trained and qualified teachers for every subject. Our highly skilled team of staff is exceptionally dedicated and goes the extra mile to give each child the attention they need. Our dedicated teachers set a pace for holistic education with a wide variety of life skills. We mentor, monitor, and guide our students so that they can experience and cherish every moment fully as they reach the physical, social and emotional milestones in life.

Sr. Mary Chetana, S.N.D

We are going through an unprecedented global predicament today. Each one of us and the entire world is affected by the coronavirus pandemic; our economy, our families, communities and our entire way of life are adversely affected.  We have witnessed so much of suffering and pain caused due to the pandemic in our world. I am confident you have done all you can to reach out to the poor and needy in your vicinity during these days of uncertainty. Stephen Grellet says, “I shall pass through this life but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”  The global pandemic Covid-19 shows that we are not separate from one another, even though we are living apart. We all have the responsibility to exercise compassion and lend a helping hand to the needy.

Vision and Principles

THE EDUCATIONAL VISION OF THE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME

Impelled by Jesus Christ and his mission and our rich educational heritage, we provide a Catholic-Christian environment of educational excellence for the transformation of individuals and society.

We form persons who are skilled and committed to journey together in hope as witnesses and catalysts for the responsible care of all God’s creation and justice and peace, especially for those on the margins of society.

Management

Notre Dame Academy Bangalore is managed and run by the same congregation of Sisters of Notre Dame, which manages the renowned Sophia High School in Bangalore. The sisters of Notre Dame congregation bring with them many years of experience imparting holistic education to students around the world. The student council assists the management in executing the daily tasks.

NDAB has a strong team of parents who are actively involved in all the activities of the school. The school is well supported by dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.

The Sisters of Notre Dame

The Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame came into being in Coesfeld, Germany in 1850. In 1849, two young teachers, Hilligonde Wolbring and Elisabeth Kuhling befriended orphaned and neglected children and took them into Hilligonde’s home where they educated and cared for them. Both young women had been educated in the spiritual and pedagogical tradition of Reverend Bernard Overberg.

School Song

Love and truth, fair gift divine
Honour, glory, praise be Thine
Child like hearts to God’s own heart
Fashioned by Thy gentle art.

Ref:
Flame of truth so strong and sure
Make Thy children free and pure
Flower of love by silent speech
Gift of self unto us teach.

Boundless, quenchless, deathless fire
Stronger than all men’s desire
Burn our souls with truth’s own flame
Peace and joy shall be Thy fame.

Show our mind and guide our will
Love’s dear duties to fulfill
To the needy, to the sad
Help us bring Thy message glad.

God who art both love and truth
Lead our footsteps, lead our youth
Then within Thy heart divine
Truth and love shall intertwine.

Student Council is a great way for students to take on leadership roles, solve problems and impact his or her community. At Notre Dame Academy we provide many an opportunity for learning how to be responsible and service- oriented. The Student Council gives our students a platform to exercise their leadership, coordinate with different groups within the school and be of service under the guidance of the teachers.

The members are chosen through a process of nomination and voting.

School Houses

The House system is of great importance to school life. Students develop a sense of belonging and a feeling of unity in being a part of a specific house. Participating in various inter-house competitions not only gives our students a chance to display their talents but also helps them learn valuable lessons on teamwork.

The students of NDA belong to one of the four Houses – Julie, Lisette, Elting, and Providence. The Houses are named after the founders, co-foundress, our spiritual father, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. The house colours are Golden Yellow for Julie, Green for Lisette, Red for Elting, and Blue for Providence.

Each House under its House Moderators, Captain, and Vice-captain, tries to live up to the ideals of its patron.
