All for the Greater Honour & Glory of God

Beyond Academics

At Notre Dame Academy, we believe that learning beyond the four walls of the classroom is indispensable to the students’ all-round development. It makes education wholesome catering not only to academics but also the signature strengths and passion of the students. Teaching students to recognize their potential, to pursue their passion, and to thrive in an ever-changing world, is of utmost priority at Notre Dame Academy. Students are exposed to Art, Music, Dance, Yoga, Sports, and field trips to cater to their aesthetic development. They are prepared to step outside into the world with more choices and more confidence.

Sports

Notre Dame Academy believes in empowering children by giving them an inclusive sporting experience by creating online and offline sessions tailored to the specific needs of our school students. Through sports, students connect and learn much in terms of life skills. Through practice and competitive matches, we train them to accept both wins or losses evenly. Students are trained to be effective sportspersons.

Outdoor events like Football, Basketball, Throw Ball, Volleyball, Cricket, Hockey, and Softball are games that students enjoy playing. Indoor activities like Table Tennis, Chess and carrom are also played. All athletic activities and fitness training are also undertaken by our PE teachers. NDA also trains and coaches children in Karate and yoga classes by skillful professionals.

Apart from this, we have external coaching classes being conducted by Triumph Sports Club which again trains cricket, football, basketball and table tennis and they are taking care of after school activities.

We have had a few exemplary sports champs in school:

    • Diya James (International Chess Player)
    • Dhanush Prashanth (State Cycling Champion)
    • Kenneth Siddhartha Martin (State Athletic & Football Champion)
    • Sanjana Singh (Inter-school Lawn Tennis Champion)

Music

Music is an important aspect of providing children with a well-rounded education. When allowed to work in harmony with other subjects and areas of study, music helps children grow in self-esteem, build essential skills and prepare for a bright future.

Our school motivates students by providing them an opportunity to perform at various events organised within and as well as other schools.

Interact Club

Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.

The Notre Dame Academy, Interact Club was founded in 2019 it is the youth wing of the Rotary Club of Koramangala and has steadily grown in strength and popularity at the school. It has keen backing from management and parents as well as from the Rotary Club of Koramangala. It now has 20 members to work collectively towards promoting a cause.

Outreach Programmes

At Notre Dame Academy, community service has been an integral part of the school since its inception and has been one of the foundational principles of the school. The community service initiatives in the school are led by the NDA Community & the Interact Club, and the students themselves as part of the school curriculum. Community Outreach and Service activities are an integral part of most of our learning experiences and engagements.

Model United Nations

Model United Nation, also known as MUN is an educational simulation in which the participants assume the role of national ambassadors to debate and seek to solve global issues. Students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations by participating in MUN conferences in different schools.

Our students participated for the first time with full enthusiasm and confidence and achieved success at different levels. It is a golden opportunity for the students to hone their diplomatic skills, research abilities and test their prowess as an orator by participating in MUN conferences.

Competitions

Along with the academic curriculum, activities like music, art, drama, participation in school debating teams, or student editorial teams help students in emotional, social, and overall personality development. The core aim of Notre Dame education and learning is to foster holistic development.

With this in mind, we conceive the school curriculum as the totality of learning experiences provided for the students through all manifold activities in the school or outside. These activities not only give equal footage to every child but also boost their confidence and spirit of responsibility. We have something for everybody – Writer’s Corner, Drawing, Story-telling, Elocution, Declamation, Show N Tell, Fancy Dress, Singing, and Dancing Competitions. Competitive platforms for Hindi, Kannada, and French are also included. To indulge the academic brilliance of our children we have an experimental science project, labs, and exhibitions.

Special Assemblies

To come together as a group for celebrations develops a sense of belonging towards each other and our culture. School assemblies are a microcosm of such celebrations. Therefore, to develop a sense of camaraderie and belonging, special assemblies are conducted at Notre Dame Academy. These diverse celebrations include national and international festivals, important days such as Environment Day, Notre Dame Day, Independence Day, and many more.

The essence of the festival or the special day is portrayed through dance, music, drama, and audio-visual presentations. The students become part of a collective experience aimed at interpersonal development and broadening of knowledge. These assemblies create a positive, reflective ethos and develop intra-personal intelligence in students.

Inter-School Competitions

The programmes and activities organized and conducted in our school help polish the talents of our students to new levels. Students who excel within the school are given opportunities to use their skills and talents in competing with other schools and institutions.

KISA regularly conducts competitions for all ICSE schools within the State, in which our school enthusiastically participates. Interact Club organises many competitions and events for its Club members. We subscribe to the Times Newspaper in Education (Times NIE) which is a novel program that helps students ‘Stay Ahead’ and aims at making ‘Learning Fun’. It has annual competitions for its subscribers. International Spell Bee and Science Olympiad Foundation have competitive examinations for varied subjects which we regularly participate in successfully.

Literal Activities

Keeping in mind the various benefits of literary development in students – right pronunciation, correct spellings, grammatical exactitude, progressive thoughts, leadership skills, team participation, confidence building, voracious reading, and so on – Creative Writing, Elocutions, Quizzes, Debates, Show and Tell, Story Telling, Spell Bee are introduced from the lower classes. It plays a pivotal role in helping them to express and channelize their thoughts and ideas clearly. Students participate in competitions held not only in English, but also in other languages like Hindi, Kannada, and French.

Apart from the activities within the school, the students participate in competitions hosted by other reputed schools which expose them to diverse environments and people who help in their overall development.

Cultural Activities

Today’s education system is not just confined to academics but modern-day schools focus on imparting skills to students like personality development, confidence building, communication skills, etiquettes, etc. Cultural activities come into play in instilling these skills in the students.

Encouraging students to participate in cultural activities is the most effective way to inculcate personality-related skills. These include activities like dancing, acting, singing, sports, etc. Cultural activities enable students to gain confidence and understand their culture in a much better way. Learning different expressions of arts has always added value to individuals, who strive to go the extra mile at grasping new skills.

To instill cultural harmony and to establish an appreciation for the diversity among the population of the students, NDA ensures that most of the festival is celebrated with great joy and involves every student equally.

The school holds vibrant functions for many festivals to make the children feel at home and rather comfortable. Christmas is one of the much-awaited events in NDA. A flavor of events of national and international importance is also given to the students through the commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day, Republic Day, Teachers’ Day, Workers Day, Tree Plantation Drives, Children’s day, and many more.

Value Based Education

Transformational learning is the need of the hour. Schools are the backbone of our society and we do not just educate our students but create responsible and insightful minds. Teachers in our school play an imperative role to ensure that values are interwoven in all the lessons and subjects are not just taught but taught consciously with embedded values. We imbibe virtues in our students’ minds and add purpose to their life.
