JUNE
Reopening day – June 3
Welcoming our dear students to our institution is always a special occasion for the teachers. To make it even more special, the teachers organized an assembly focused on reminding students of the core virtues of Notre Dame. The pure intention of greeting students for their new academic session was fulfilled in all its glory. The reopening for the different sections was scheduled on different days.
Environment Day Assembly – Interact Club – June 6
“The Earth does not belong to us , we belong to the Earth.”
Being responsible extends beyond ourselves to include our environment. We undertake conscious initiatives to ensure that our students recognize the value of our planet and act responsibly toward it. The Interact Club of Notre Dame Academy organized a creative assembly that emphasized essential reminders for nurturing a genuine love for nature. As a leading institution, we consider it our duty to raise responsible individuals in every sense.
Parent Orientation – June 8
Education is a collective responsibility shared by students, teachers, and parents. Maintaining an amicable relationship with parents is of utmost importance for any educational institution. As a first step toward achieving this, we organized an orientation session for the parents of new joiners. The purpose of this session was to inform parents about the school’s norms and expectations and to assure them of their child’s overall development. Parents eagerly participated in this session, demonstrating their unwavering support for the institution.
Student Council Installation – June 19 & 26
“Great leaders encourage leadership development. By openly developing themselves.”
– Marshall Goldsmith
Every educational establishment requires a capable student body at its helm to guide its course of action. These representatives not only stand for the students but also act as an effective bridge, facilitating better coordination between management and students. While every Notre Damite is responsible for upholding the values of our school, we affirm that the perfect leaders will lead the way.
We have a separate student council body to represent the Junior and Senior sections of the school. An installation ceremony was organized in all its grandeur, during which our Principal, Sr. Sandhya, handed over the leadership to the respective council body. Duties are divided under various heads, and students are elected through a proper and efficient voting process. This ensures a fair opportunity for candidates to win and allows others to exercise their voting rights to the fullest.
Articulate Prelims – June 20
As a school, we strive to broaden the mindset of our students beyond the academic arena. We organized an Articulate event for students in Class 6-12, providing them with an opportunity to enhance their communication and creative skills. More than a competition, this event was designed to give students a chance to explore and develop their articulate abilities.
Various activities, such as Impromptu Speaking and Eloquent Expressions, were assigned to different categories and judged by our esteemed teachers. It was heartening to see students participating in these events with enthusiasm, without viewing them merely as competitions.
Nirvahana ’24 – Commerce Fest – June 28
Our Commerce students from Class 9-12 participated in NIRVAHANA ’24, the Annual Inter-school Commerce Fest hosted by Primus Public School. This event featured a wide range of activities designed to challenge and inspire students, including business competitions, marketing, consulting, world trade simulations, and commerce quizzes.
Students were selected through an organized round of auditions and then divided into teams based on their areas of interest. Participation in such inter-school events enables students to explore their fields more thoroughly and challenge themselves in competitive environments. It also proved to be a valuable learning experience for all involved.
Our students excelled in all the events they participated in, making it to the finals. Notably, our team in Venture Scape—a replica of Shark Tank where students pitch business ideas to a competitive panel of judges—secured second place.
Notre Dame Model United Nations - NDMUN –June 29
Notre Dame Academy organized its first-ever intra Model United Nations to inspire aspiring ‘Munners’ to explore their talents. The program was meticulously curated under the leadership of our Principal, Sr. Sandhya, and a group of dedicated teachers, ensuring it maintained the utmost formality.
The event was a tremendous success, marked by the active participation of our students. We strive to provide such intellectual and engaging platforms, as the fundamental purpose of education is to ensure the overall development of our students.
The NDMUN, organized for both the Junior and Senior sections, was entirely managed and chaired by the senior-most ‘Munners’ of Notre Dame. It is a privilege for our school to witness such events, where seniors become guiding lights, leading the juniors to great heights without prejudice.
Better Life Projects – Training for Teachers –June 29
As part of our commitment to nurturing the mental health of our students, our school is launching a new initiative this academic year called the Better Life Project. This initiative was conceived by Ms. Sapna Prajapati, an established criminal psychologist, with the goal of understanding and improving students’ mental health at the school level.
The core activity of this project is journaling, which has been proven to have numerous benefits for the overall development of children. The project includes 32 activities to be completed throughout the academic year. Teachers have received comprehensive training on how to implement this activity in the classroom. Ms. Sapna Prajapati explained the benefits of journaling, sharing real-life incidents and anecdotes from her personal experience to illustrate its positive impact.
We are confident that this activity, implemented with students from Class 1-12, will be a huge success and will bring about remarkable changes in the overall attitude and outlook of our children.
Awareness of Child Rights – Training for Teachers –June 29
In addition to imparting knowledge to students, it is imperative for us to be well-versed in the various aspects of child rights as per the Indian legal system. Ms. Sujatha Narasimharaju, an established lawyer and guardian of child rights, conducted a session for our teachers, covering essential topics such as the UNCRC, JJ Act, RTE, and POCSO Act.
This training was timely and crucial, providing us with valuable insights into the do’s and don’ts of teaching and behavior. As educators, we recognize our responsibility to safeguard and protect the best interests of the children, as well as the integrity of our institution. In light of this, we have established a formal Child Protection Committee, reaffirming our commitment to our students’ welfare and safety.
